2026/27 PIP Payment Rates Breakdown

Personal Independence Payment is split into two parts: Daily Living and Mobility. Depending on your official DWP assessment, you may receive one or both parts at either the standard or enhanced rate.

The current 2026/27 rates, as published by the Department for Work and Pensions on GOV.UK, are outlined in the table below. Readers should always confirm current rates on GOV.UK before applying or making financial changes.

PIP ComponentWeekly Rate (2026/27)4-Weekly Payment
Daily Living - Standard£73.90£295.60
Daily Living - Enhanced£110.40£441.60
Mobility - Standard£29.20£116.80
Mobility - Enhanced£77.05£308.20

If you qualify for the maximum awarded amounts under both components, you will receive £187.45 per week, which totals £749.80 every four weeks directly into your bank account.

How Your PIP Entitlement Is Calculated

Your PIP payment level is determined by a point-based assessment conducted on behalf of the DWP. The assessment evaluates how your health condition or disability affects your ability to carry out everyday activities and move around outside.

To qualify for the standard rate of either component, you must score between 8 and 11 points in that specific category. Scoring 12 points or more awards you the enhanced rate for that component.

Important Rule: PIP is not based on your medical condition itself, but on how that condition impacts your daily life. Ensure your assessment form contains clear examples of where you need help, supervision, or physical aids.

Maximum and Minimum Payment Combinations

Because PIP combines two independent components, there are eight possible payout combinations depending on your score. The minimum payment is £29.20 per week if you only receive the standard Mobility rate.

Conversely, receiving enhanced Daily Living combined with enhanced Mobility provides the maximum payout of £187.45 per week. Here is how common award combinations break down:

  • Daily Living Standard only: £73.90 weekly (£295.60 per pay period).
  • Daily Living Enhanced + Mobility Standard: £139.60 weekly (£558.40 per pay period).
  • Daily Living Standard + Mobility Enhanced: £150.95 weekly (£603.80 per pay period).
  • Both Enhanced Rates: £187.45 weekly (£749.80 per pay period).

If you qualify for PIP, it may also unlock extra financial help through other disability benefits and premium top-ups.

Payment Cycles, Income Rules, and Extra Premiums

PIP is routinely paid every four weeks in arrears into your bank, building society, or credit union account. PIP is entirely tax-free and exempt from the DWP Benefit Cap.

Furthermore, PIP is not means-tested. Your savings, household income, or employment status will never reduce your PIP payment amount. Receiving PIP can also boost your underlying entitlement if you claim Universal Credit, providing access to additional severe disability premiums.

Pro Tip: If you receive the Enhanced Mobility component, you can choose to swap all or part of this payment to lease a brand-new vehicle, wheelchair, or scooter through the official Motability Scheme.
