If choosing the statutory scheme, submit an application online to open a Child Maintenance case.
Choose 'Direct Pay' (parents pay each other directly with no collection fees) or 'Collect & Pay' (CMS collects and enforces payments).
Child maintenance payments received are 100% disregarded as income for Universal Credit and local Council Tax Reduction assessments.
