Grants of up to £2,000 to clear energy debt

Eligibility Criteria

You live in England, Scotland, or Wales and have energy debt on a active domestic gas/electricity account.
You have not received a grant from British Gas Energy Trust in the last 12 months.
You have received professional money or debt advice from an FCA-regulated advisor (e.g. Citizens Advice, StepChange) prior to applying.
You have less than £1,000 in household savings.

What this grant covers

Direct write-off of domestic gas debt arrears
Direct write-off of domestic electricity debt arrears
Emergency prepay meter top-ups for households in extreme hardship

How to apply

Apply directly online via the British Gas Energy Trust portal with a current energy bill, proof of income, and evidence of debt advice.
