Editorial standards
Everything SupportFund publishes carries a source. When we get something wrong, we say so on the page, with the date and what changed.
If a published figure, chart or finding is wrong, we fix it on the page and record what changed and when. We do not quietly edit a number and leave the page looking untouched.
Each correction states the date, what was wrong, and what it now says. Where the error changed a headline finding, we say so explicitly rather than describing it as a minor amendment.
Official statistics are routinely revised by their publishers. When ONS, DWP, Ofgem or the Bank of England revises a figure, we update our record and note the revision. That is a data update, not a SupportFund error, and we distinguish the two.
Research snapshots are frozen at publication so anyone citing them is citing a stable set of records. If a snapshot contains an error we add a correction note; we do not retrospectively change the underlying snapshot data.
Where we know a publication has used a figure we later correct, we contact them directly as well as correcting the page.
No corrections have been recorded against any SupportFund publication to date. When one is, it will appear here and on the affected page.
Tell us and we will check it against the source as quickly as we can. Email info@supportfund.co.uk with the page and the figure, or use the media request form. We would rather be corrected than quoted incorrectly.
