Official DWP PIP Payment Rates for 2026/27

Personal Independence Payment (PIP) is paid by the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) to help with the extra costs of a long-term physical or mental health condition. Following the April 2026 uprating, rates have increased across both the Daily Living and Mobility components.

PIP is split into two parts, and you may qualify for one or both depending on your official DWP assessment score. The table below outlines the current weekly and four-weekly payment figures for the 2026/27 tax year as confirmed on GOV.UK.

Component & RateWeekly Amount4-Weekly Payment
Daily Living - Standard£73.90£295.60
Daily Living - Enhanced£110.40£441.60
Mobility - Standard£29.20£116.80
Mobility - Enhanced£77.05£308.20
Maximum Combined Award£187.45£749.80

Understanding the Daily Living Component

The Daily Living component is awarded if you need help with everyday tasks such as preparing food, washing, dressing, or communicating. DWP assessors assign points based on how your disability impacts your daily life.

To receive the standard weekly rate of £73.90, you must score between 8 and 11 points during your assessment. Scoring 12 points or more qualifies you for the enhanced rate of £110.40 per week.

Important DWP Rule: PIP is non-means-tested. You can receive the full payment rate regardless of your income, capital, or savings. If you are exploring other support, check our guide on disability benefit options to see how PIP interacts with income-related claims.

Mobility Component Rates & The Motability Scheme

The Mobility component assists individuals who experience physical difficulties moving around or navigating journeys outside the home. Like Daily Living, it is divided into standard and enhanced payment tiers based on points scored.

Scoring 8 to 11 points yields the standard rate of £29.20 weekly, while 12 points or more secures the enhanced rate of £77.05. If you receive the enhanced Mobility component, you have the option to exchange all or part of it to lease a wheelchair-accessible vehicle, scooter, or powered wheelchair through the Motability Scheme.

How and When PIP Payments Are Delivered

DWP delivers PIP payments directly into your bank, building society, or credit union account every four weeks on a fixed day of the week. Payments are sent in arrears, meaning each deposit covers the preceding four-week cycle.

If your scheduled payment date falls on a UK bank holiday, the DWP automatically releases your funds on the last preceding working day. For full details on managing your claims and reporting changes, consult our PIP guide.

How PIP Impacts Other Benefits and Premiums

Securing a PIP award often unlocks additional financial support, known as disability premiums, across other benefits. Qualifying for PIP can also protect your household from the Benefit Cap and make a carer eligible for Carer's Allowance.

Receiving PIP does not count as taxable income and will not reduce your entitlement to Universal Credit or Council Tax Support. You can evaluate your total household entitlement using a free online benefits calculator.
