Eligibility Criteria

Step-by-Step: How to Apply

    Give your employer written notice of entitlement and intention to take Shared Parental Leave at least 8 weeks before your chosen start date.

    Provide proof of birth or adoption (e.g. birth certificate or matching certificate) and your partner's employer details.

  3. 3

    Payments are distributed by your employer through standard salary payroll during your approved leave blocks.

While receiving Shared Parental Pay, lower-income households can apply for Universal Credit top-ups and local council early years family support services.
