Tick off each condition below. You'll usually need to meet all of them to qualify.
Notify your employer in writing of your sickness within their deadline (or within 7 days if no deadline is set).
Provide a 'fit note' from your GP, nurse, or hospital doctor if off sick for more than 7 days in a row.
SSP is paid directly into your wage packet through normal payroll on your usual payday.
If SSP is lower than your usual earnings, you may qualify for Universal Credit top-ups or short-term emergency Council Tax support from your local authority.
