Wigan provides Crisis Payments for low-income households experiencing financial shock or at risk of entering crisis, and Housing Payments giving short-term housing-cost support. Wider support includes food, energy, furniture, housing costs, emergency help, money advice and income maximisation.
Residents do not need to be receiving benefits to apply for crisis support. Housing Payment eligibility includes people receiving Housing Benefit or Universal Credit with housing costs.
