Wirral's Crisis and Resilience Fund provides Crisis Payments for residents on a low income who cannot meet essential needs, with Housing Payments available separately. Published examples of crisis include job or income loss, unexpected bills, domestic abuse and fire, flood or emergency. Longer-term support includes money and budgeting advice, jobs and training, health and wellbeing support, housing and community support, and benefits and welfare advice.

Who may qualify?

Crisis Payment eligibility: aged 16 or over, lives in Wirral, on a low income, does not have enough money for essential needs, and is experiencing a financial crisis. Applicants do not have to be receiving benefits.

Residency requirement

Must live in Wirral.

Benefit requirement

Not required for Crisis Payments. For Housing Payments only: Housing Benefit or Universal Credit with housing support.

Income requirement

Applicants must be on a low income.

Crisis requirement

A financial crisis such as job or income loss, unexpected bills, domestic abuse, or fire, flood or other emergency.

Eligibility is determined by the council.
