Sunderland delivers the Crisis and Resilience Fund through Crisis Payments, Housing Payments, resilience services and community coordination. The Crisis Payment element is temporarily closed from 27 July to 24 August 2026, and applications received by 26 July are still being processed. Residents needing crisis help during the closure may be eligible for Sunderland's Local Welfare Provision Crisis Support Scheme. Wider published activity includes emergency financial help, housing costs, holiday food support, affordable food clubs, food banks and advice services.
